National Urgent Actions Network
The National Urgent Actions Network supports invaluable action on human rights by supporting activists around the country to take action for individuals whose human rights are being violated. The Network is run and supported by passionate volunteers and activists like yourself!
An Urgent Action is a simple idea: when someone faces a violation of their human rights, Amnesty International creates an Urgent Actions case sheet that educates and empowers people to take action for this individual through letter writing. The authorities responsible are flooded with thousands of letters from across the world which sends the message that the world is watching and creates pressure to stop the violation.
Once you join the Network - you will be added to a mailing list and will start receiving case sheets to begin your letter-writing activism journey. In some states, some local groups also meet either regularly to write letters or annually during the end-of-year Write for Rights campaign! You can keep an eye for events and letter writing meet-ups on our events page: https://activism.amnesty.org.au/events
