The Avalon Amnesty Group has been going for many years but now has only about three active members and is no longer fully operative. However, we do have a mailing list of half-a-dozen additional sympathisers in our area. We no longer have formal meetings but occasionally meet at the local pub or exchange emails and texts. As a group or individually, we occasionally take actions like petitions or letters.

Despite our small size, we are very good fundraisers for Amnesty, because we have a close association with a local music group Loosely Woven, whose leader is a strong Amnesty supporter. The group holds about three community concerts a year, which lately raise about $200 each. We help to raise awareness of these concerts and are present to solicit donations, tell people about Amnesty and collect signatures for petitions.

We are particularly interested in people at risk throughout the world, in Australia's treatment of asylum seekers and Indigenous issues.

We would welcome new members and would like to become more active.
